How do we crush the ice? What do you think I am, Iron Man?

It should be made with limes, not lemons, and crush the limes with the ice. Use BROWN demerra sugar. Sometimes add a splash of lime juice if the limes are not juicy.

If you want to make an authentic tasting Brazilian Caipirinha, you have to locate a bottle of Cachaca. Its a Brazilian Brandy made from sugar canes. A better version of the recipe would advise that when crushing the lemon at the bottom of the glass, do not smash too hard to avoid getting the bitterness of the peel. Also, only use about 1 to 1 1/2 ounces of the Cachaca. Those little details make ALL the difference!
