The rockstar radically cuts down the sharpness of the JD but it doesn't take away how it gets you drunk. The jamaican rum if added last and counterbalances the other two ingredients and gives the drink an overall crisp taste. If you want to use Appleton rum instead it makes the drink a little sharper.
