Cocktail Recipe: Raymond Massey Add to My Drinks
2 oz Canadian Rye Whisky
1/2 oz Ginger Syrup (prepared seperately)
5 oz Champagne

Ginger Syrup: Peel and slice a hunk of raw ginger root into 3/4 cup, combine w/ 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water in a saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer ten minutes, remove from heat, strain out ginger and allow to cool. Cocktail: Combine whiskey and syrup in shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into highball glass over cracked ice. Top with Champagne. Garnish with a strip of lime. Goddamn you look classy! The Raymond Massey is a historic cocktail of Old Muddy York, owing allegiance to both the sophisticated French 75 and the simple classic Rye & Ginger. Paying tribute to Toronto’s favourite son, esteemed actor and man of influence Raymond Massey (1896–1983).
