Drinking Game: Spread Add to My Games
How to play the great drinking game, "SPREAD":

HOW TO START:
Make sure everyone has a drink, explain the rules,
shuffle the cards (a full deck including Jokers),
& spread the cards face down on the table.
Once the cards have been spread, the 3 main
rules are in effect and the game has started. Each
time someone pulls a card, they keep it face up in
front of them (except cards 8 & 10...see below).

THREE MAIN RULES:
No pointing
No cussing
No real names (nicknames and discribing words are fine
as long as the nicknames are not normally used in
place of their real name)
THESE RULES CANNOT BE NULLIFIED OR CHANGED AND ARE IN
EFFECT EVERY GAME, THE ENTIRE GAME.

WHAT THE CARDS MEAN:
2-6: drinking cards - you can give out or take as many
drinks as the # on the card. (Ex. If you have a 4,
you can give all 4 drinks to one person, split them up
between multiple people, or also give a/some drinks to
yourself) Note: We like to do "socials" - if 4 people
are playing and a 4 is drawn, the person who draws the
card says, "social" and everyone drinks together. If
5 people are playing and a 5 is drawn, that is a
"social", etc.

7: counting card - go around the table clockwise
starting with the person who drew the card to start co
unting beginning with the number 1 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,
8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15...). You continue counting
as high as you can go, but you have to skip anything
with a 7 in it (7, 17, 27, 37, etc.) or a multiple of
7 (14, 21, 28, 35, 42, etc.). The first one to
hesitate or mess up, drinks. Note: The tricky part is
if you make it all the way to 69 without messing up
because you have to skip all of the 70's entirely and
go directly to 80.

8: bathroom card - no one can go to the bathroom
without having an 8- NO EXCEPTIONS. Players can make
deals with each other to get or give an 8. The 8
stays face down on the table in front of the person
who has it and does not come into play until the
person flips it over and announces that they are using
their 8 to go to the bathroom. At that point, the
game is on pause and everyone can says names, cuss,
and point. The game starts again when the player that
flipped the 8 sits down. Note: If more than one
person uses an 8 at the same time, the last person who
flipped the 8 will start the game when they sit down.

9: word association- The person who draws the card
says a word and the person next to them says a word
that associates with the word the first person says.
Continue around the table clockwise until someone
hesitates or messes up and has to drink. The words do
not all have associate with the first word, just the
word given directly before them. (Ex. shoe - horn -
trumpet- music, etc.) Players may vote if they think
that someone's word does not associate with the word
given before them. If the majority of the group
agrees that it does not associate, that person has to
drink. If the majority does agree that the word
associates, the person who challeged must drink.

10: thumb master card - This card is pulled and then
placed face down in front of the person that pulled
it. You do not have to play the 10 when you pull
it. You can save it and play it at any point during
that game. Try to be sneaky and flip this card onto
your pile when you think no one is looking. Once you
have flipped your 10, slyly put your thumb on the edge
of the table and try not to be obvious. Eventually,
others will notice your thumb on the table and will
quietly put their thumb on the edge of the table. The
last person to put their thumb on the edge of the
table is the "thumb master" and has to drink.
Depending on how sly you are, this could go on for
several rounds until everyone notices.

JACK: take a drink of someone else's drink - All you
have to do is take a drink out of someone else's drink
at the table. Hopefully someone else will be drinking
something you like or you'll be screwed!

QUEEN: question card - The person who pulls the card
looks at ANY player and asks a question. That player
then either looks at the 1st player or ANY other
player and asks a question. Everyone continues asking
questions until someone hesitates or messes up and has
to drink. YOU CANNOT ANSWER A QUESTION, YOU CAN ONLY
ASK A QUESTION. EVEN IF YOU ANSWER AND THEN ASK A
QUESTION, YOU STILL ANSWERED AND IT DOES NOT COUNT,
YOU MESSED UP AND HAVE TO DRINK. YOU MAY NOT REPEAT A
QUESTION THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS USED DURING THAT ROUND.
Note: You do not have to go in any order for this
one, the more random you make it, the harder it is.
The weirder or grosser the questions, the more likely
to mess others up so that they have to drink. (Ex.:
Do you like fingers or toes? What is up your nose?)
Huh? What? Where? Who? When? How? all count
because they ARE questions.

KING: When drawn, all kings are put to the side in a
seperate pile. Nothing happens until the 4th king is
drawn. The person who pulls the 4th king has to
finish their entire drink in front of them. It's not
so bad if you only have a little bit left, but it
sucks if you just made a new drink.

ACES and JOKERS: Rule cards - The person who pulls an
ace or a joker gets to make or nullify someone else's
rule. REMEMBER: THE 3 MAIN RULES CANNOT BE NULLIFIED
OR CHANGED AND ARE ALWAYS IN EFFECT. Some favorite
rules that we often use are: Must drink with your
opposite hand (if you are left handed, you must only
drink with your right hand, if you drink with your
left, you broke the rule and have to take a drink),
cannot say any form of the words drink, drank, or
drunk (you must say things like consume, embibe, have
one. If you say drink, drank, or drunk, you broke the
rule and must drink), you must end every
phrase/sentence with the phrase 'in bed'. (If you
only say one word, you do not have to use the phrase,
but if you say two or more words, you must end with
'in bed'. Ex. It's your turn, in bed. I'm making a
new drink, in bed.) One fun rule to use near the end
of the game (when there are not many cards left) is to
double the remaining drink (2-6) cards so that if
someone then draws a 6, they have 12 drinks to give
instead of 6. Be creative! Note: You cannot make a
rule that only effects one person (ex. Everytime a 4
is pulled, Joe drinks), but you can make a rule that
effects 2 or more people (ex. if I break a rule and
have to drink, everyone drinks)

ADDITIONAL TIPS:
* Don't let anyone see the card that you pull until
you have looked at it first. It could be an 8 or 10
and you don't want anyone to know which ones that you
have so it will be more of a surprise if/when you use
the 10. It also keeps the other players on their
toes.

* If someone has to get up during the game to make a new
drink (remember, you MUST always have something to
drink in front of you until ALL cards have been pulled),
make sure you're paying attention because the
game is still on and you can get screwed with 10's (thumb master).
Also, feel free to still give drinks to them, their
credit is good and they can make them up when they get
back to the table with their new drink. THEY ARE NOT
ALLOWED TO PEE WHEN THEY ARE UP UNLESS THEY HAVE AN 8.

*The game is over when all of the cards are gone. At
that point, you can reshuffle the cards and start a
new game. If you do start a new game, make sure you
pee first, have a fresh drink in front of you, and
know that the only rules that are in effect at the
start of the new game are the 3 main rules. Any rules
made with Aces or Jokers do not carry over to the new
game (unless you want them to).

*If you dare...try playing with 2 decks (if you have a
lot of people playing you can play with more decks),
but each game takes a lot longer and you have twice as
many drink cards cards, rule cards, etc. This is a
really rough way to play and not for beginners!
